Mesa View and Park View are offering incoming 6th grade students an exciting opportunity to participate in the Sixth Grade Summer Bridge Program. The program will focus on incoming sixth grade students who would benefit from a three week summer session. Students are being recruited at their elementary school and applications are being accepted. They will learn techniques to strengthen their writing, reading fluency and reading comprehension, and build math skills and math confidence. In addition, students will be exposed to project-based learning and school connectedness, which focuses on how to navigate the campus. They will focus on positive behaviors and decision making skills. They will learn how to create accounts for ABI and Office 365, where they can check their attendance, grades and missing assignments.
Summer Bridge runs from June 13 to July 5. Classes run from 8:00 – 1:30, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Free lunch is provided. They will receive incentives for the regular school year and school supplies for free!

Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Registration Information for
2016-2017 School Year
Kindergarten children must be five years or older on or before September 1, 2016, to be eligible for school registration. Kindergarten registration forms for the 2016-2017 school year will be accepted beginning March 7, 2016, for Calimesa, Chapman Heights, Dunlap, Ridgeview, Valley and Wildwood Elementary Schools. All elementary schools will follow a modified traditional school schedule for the 2016-2017 school year which is posted at www.ycjusd.schoolfusion.us. The start date for the 2016-2017 school year is August 11, 2016.
The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District will offer Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for students who reach age five between September 2 and December 2. This program is open to all district students. Transitional kindergarten is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, functioning to provide students with time to develop fundamental skills needed for school success in an age and developmentally appropriate setting. This program provides the “gift of time” for younger students to engage in a rich early educational experience that is designed to ensure ongoing academic success. Transitional Kindergarten registration forms for the 2016-2017 school year will be accepted at Calimesa, Chapman Heights, Dunlap, Ridgeview, Valley and Wildwood Elementary Schools beginning March 7, 2016. Transitional Kindergarten children must be five years old between September 2 and December 2 to be eligible for school registration.
Registration forms will be available for pick up at all school site offices Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. beginning
March 7, 2016.
Parents should bring:
1) A birth certificate or other age verifications
2) A utility bill indicating proof of residence
3) Records of student's past immunizations, serious diseases and injuries.
California state law requires students entering transitional kindergarten or kindergarten to complete immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, measles (rubella and rubeola), mumps, hepatitis B, and varicella.
Parents may take their children to the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health Clinic at 606 E. Mill Street in San Bernardino. Immunizations to satisfy all state requirements will be available. The telephone number is (800) 722-4777. Children without required immunizations cannot be registered.
All first-graders should have a physical examination completed prior to the first day of school. A physical administered within 18 months prior to the first day of school for first graders will be accepted.
Students from families with no health insurance, or who have Medi-cal, can get physicals through the San Bernardino County Health Department. Information can be obtained by calling (800) 880-5305.
Run Club will be held on Thursdays from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in E-7 (Coach Davis’ Room) and is open to all 3rd-5th graders. Please note that if there is a minimum day on a Thursday, Run Club will not meet.
Coach Davis, Ms. Hodis and Mrs. Kerr will be “leading the pack” again this year.
